Sometimes, love is hard to find. Other times it’s no sweat—especially if, like Kendall and Josh, you’re introduced 30 minutes before a 6 a.m. workout. “We were ‘unknowingly’ set up by a friend,” says Kendall. “He told us to be at a group workout 30 minutes earlier than the rest of the group was there.”

Following Josh’s proposal at the exact same place where the two first met, Kendall enlisted DFW Events to help create her ideal wedding day. The ingredients? Natural elements, the slightest touch of crystal, and most importantly…happiness. “Josh is from small-town Indiana and I’m from Dallas, so I wanted a mix of his history and my history,” says Kendall. “I wanted everything in my wedding to be different than what I had seen. But the ultimate goal was for it to be a happy event—that was key!”
To accommodate Kendall’s desire for an outdoor ceremony and give a nod to Josh’s love for golf, the couple selected Dallas Country Club as their venue. The tented ceremony space was decorated by a gorgeous garland arbor, cream and ruby fabric, chandeliers, and an aisle covered with rose petals. Hair and makeup artist Maitee Miles created an elegant updo accented by brightly-hued flowers to complement the décor and Kendall’s custom Patti Flowers gown. Other special touches included the inclusion of the couple’s two dogs in the ceremony, and a rendition of the Lord’s Prayer sung by one of the bride’s high school students.
Following the ceremony, the couple joined their 300 guests at a reception that featured classic food favorites—think chicken fried steak sliders, pizza, and a mac-and-cheese bar—a Nascar-themed groom’s cake, sequin tablecloths and gold log centerpieces, and a first dance to “She’s Like Texas.” The most touching element of the evening, however? “The margarita bar dedicated to my uncle who had recently passed away,” says Kendall. “All of the cups said, ‘Here’s to Davy’ and the bar had a story about his place in my life.”
We can’t resist a good love story, and this couple’s is just the sweetest. “The day after he met me—crazy, I know, but it worked for us!—Josh sent me a text that said, ‘Good morning sunshine! Given the chance, I promise to love you like you’ve never been loved before.’ For sure one of those dumb love-at-first-sight stories, but I wouldn’t change a thing. From that second on, I knew he was the one, and he has never faltered on that promise.”
If that’s not motivation to start looking cute at the gym, then really…what is? Thanks for sharing your story with us, and congrats, Kendall and Josh!
